Story
One of my best friends and truly one of my favourite people in the world was tragically taken away from us all last year. I was so lucky to have been part of her too short life and she taught me a great deal - to live life to the full every single day, appreciate what you have and be proud of everything you do.
Despite never having ran a marathon before, it was Cerys’ zest for life, positivity and determination that motivated me to run the London Marathon this year and it was her kindness, generosity and selflessness that inspired me to raise money for a great charity in her name. Cerys always cared about those less fortunate than herself and wanted to help young people be the best that they could possibly be - perfectly fitting with what my charity Roundabout needs our help to achieve. It is also a local Sheffield charity which was Cerys’ much loved university city and was the city in which I was lucky enough to meet Cerys and create my most treasured lasting memories.
I really hope that you can donate as much or as little as you can to this great cause to show Cerys and her incredible family how much she meant to us and how we will forever carry her precious spirit and her true heart of (black and) gold.
What do Roundabout do?
Roundabout is Sheffield's youth homeless charity. Every day, we provide shelter and support to over 150 young people in Sheffield who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. You donations will help provide a safe place for young people and help us to provide the support and life skills to help break the cycle of homelessness. Your support will go a long way to changing the lives of some of the most vulnerable young people in Sheffield. Our work is a lifeline for many and supports the young people we work with to prepare for a better future. From £5 which would buy bedding for a young person when they move into the hostel or their own flat to £5,000 which will house a young person for a full year – it all makes a difference to some of the most vulnerable young people in Sheffield.
