Story
Peter Jackson /Dad / Papa left us on the 12 October 2021. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather whose steady presence is missed more than words can say. Peter’s eight years with Parkinson’s were a constantly shifting experience and the onset of dementia in his final years had a particularly acute effect on his quality of life.
Mirren (his wife), JJ, Freddie, George (stepsons), John (father of the boys) and Ben (friend) are cycling in his memory to raise money to help others to fight against an illness that affected Peter so much in his final years.
Nick Mostyn/Dadda was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in June 2020, and so is in the early stages of the Parkinson’s journey. His condition is presently being well-managed by the team at KCH. Nick’s children, Henry, Daisy, Gregory and Charlie, and Gregory’s girlfriend Ella, are cycling to raise money for two of his favoured Parkinson’s causes. Nick will also be doing the ride, albeit on an electric bicycle!
We are raising money for two Parkinson’s related causes: PDNMG & Cure Parkinson’s. On this page we hope to raise £50,000 for Cure Parkinson’s. Click here to go to our page for PDNMG.
Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world, affecting over 145,000 people in the UK alone, and up to 10 million people worldwide. It is a progressive condition for which there is currently no cure.
However, Cure Parkinson’s is here to change that. Everything Cure Parkinson’s does is to move us closer to that goal of finding new treatments to slow, stop or reverse the progression of Parkinson’s. Since the charity was formed in 2005 by four people living with Parkinson’s, we have funded millions of pounds of research, made scientific discoveries, and opened new avenues of study. Our innovative approach, which has led to collaborations with the world’s leading researchers and their inspirational work, combined with the active support of thousands of people living with Parkinson’s around the world, is bringing us closer to a cure for Parkinson’s.
This work is only made possible through our wonderful fundraisers, donors and supporters; whose collective drive and determination have brought us to a position where we believe we will soon reach our goal of consigning Parkinson's to medical history.
