Story
Once again, as part of the Miss Great Britain competition there is an optional fundraising aspect for the Rainbows Hospice for Children andYoung People [click the previous to go to their website]
This year I have had some wonderful experiences with more to come, and I am so lucky that my life span allows me to enjoy these.
Rainbows help support many life-limited children and their families; last year I was blindfolded for 12hrs, this year I have chosen to remove something else that I truly value...sleep.
Many of you know I have been diagnosed with mild narcolepsy, meaning I often fall asleep even if I am not tired.
2pm August 4th-2pm August 5th I will be staying awake for 24hrs; this will be a HUGE CHALLENGE for me but it is for a great cause.
[Due to the pending review for my diagnosis, I will take my medication as normal. This is NOT CHEATING; the medication aims to keep me awake for my body's normal functioning hours; 1 taken in the morning and 1 around lunchtime so that sleep is not disturbed. Obviously I will not be sleeping during this time but I will not be taking any extra medication.]
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People care for around 250 families a year, last year's target was £250 and so this year I would like to try and beat that and am aiming for £300.
If you would like to donate to the page; giving to a worthy cause and helping me reach my target please do…also feel free to share the page with your friends and family.
