Story
I first deployed when I was nineteen -- a boy plucked out of suburbia asked to fight a war. I never regretted my decision to enlist in the Marine Corps, but I have seen my brothers and sisters in the Corps come back with so many scars. Missing limbs to broken families -- these men and women who have shared the uniform with me have given so much.
So now, it is our chance to give back to them... to serve the brave servicemen who dedicate their lives to Corps and Country. Barclay and I will be running Tough Mudder to raise money to help raise money for Help for Heroes, a wonderful charity serving the ones who get lost in the system.
One thing we learn in the Corps is... We leave no one behind. Now or ever. Help us keep this promise.

I met Ian when we both studying at Hong Kong University last year, and was touched by his stories from the war. I really think this is a good chance to give back to people who have given so much, and receive little thanks for their efforts. Tough mudder, which is a half-marathon assault course, is definitely putting me far out of my comfort zone (drinking tea and skulking around shoreditch in skinny jeans).

I’ve known Barclay for a few years and met Ian on a drunken escapade which we all know brings people together in different ways. But this meeting was enough for me to recognize the impact that war had on himself and others. Unlike the others, I am in the unique position of only having one month notice. One month notice for probably the most physically and mentally challenging venture I will ever take. Thanks Barclay. But it’s for a good cause and for this I am more than willing to take on this half marathon assault course and even if for just one day take on the mantra held by Ian and the Corps. Tough Mudder, whether I’m ready or not see you in the 27th.
