Story
Hi everyone.
On Sunday 24th October, Team Hudgells are running 1.9 miles every hour, for 19 hours to raise money for the Spinal Injuries association and the Martin's Mountain Campaign.
Martin's story
On 22nd May 2017, Martin Hibbert's life changed forever. Martin was the closest survivor of the Manchester Arena bombing which tragically took the lives of 22 people. A bolt went straight through him, severing his spinal cord, leaving him paralysed below the waist.
On the day, he was told he would never walk again. Martin met Gary Dawson from the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).
Martin is taking on the incredible challenge of raising £1million for Spinal Injuries Association, the organisation that have supported him in his recovery and gave him the hope, confidence and practical skills to start again. He is aiming to raise £1 million for the SIA and will climb Kilimanjaro. The summit is set at 19, 000 ft and he'll be using a specially- adapted Bowhead hand bike. People across the country are joining his #19 campaign in support of Marin and the SIA
Our small part in supporting this amazing cause is to run 1.9 miles, every hour for 19 hours #19 . We start at 6am on Sunday 24 October 2021 and (hopefully) finish by running my 19th 1.9 miles at midnight on Sunday 24th October 2021.
The challenge is going to be tough as it's almost 1.5 marathons in 1 day...but the real challenge is mindset , to keep going when when it's dark and cold and we are all exhausted.
