Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page.
Edoardo & Daria started this 5 week epic walking challenge from Aberdeenshire, heading south to Edinburgh, Glasgow and back again (including a hop over to the Isle of Arran), visiting the closed but still very important properties owned by The National Trust for Scotland.
The mission is to draw attention to the fact these magnificent
locations are still there, and to highlight that they are still loved and
still being looked after, until such time as they can reopen again. History doesn't go away, it is always there in the background.
Sadly, Daria has had to retire from the walk following a re-occurrence of an underlying health condition. She hopes to rejoin some legs of the journey later on. Edoardo is soldiering on, walking solo for the love of Scotland and its heritage, a man on a mission!
Edoardo is currently a furloughed employee of the National Trust for
Scotland, and until March this year he was overseeing operations and the overall visitor experience at the resplendent stately home of Haddo House in Aberdeenshire. Daria is a volunteer guide at this property and she was stood down in March too.
Along with 400+ colleagues across the National Trust for Scotland,
Edoardo’s job is at risk of redundancy, so he hopes this 500 mile road-pounding walk will raise awareness and funds to enable the re-opening of the doors of many such properties, and allow the public back in to enjoy the treasures and the stories within the walls of these impressive, exceptional and nationally important buildings.
"History - it explains where we've been, and guides where we are going"
This valiant walk will cover nearly 800km, visit 23
properties and take 5 weeks . . . all for the Love of Scotland
Please donate. . . you will be supporting Scotland's
future, as well as her past. Thank you very much indeed.
