Hitchin Belles FC Coaches v Coaches Match for Refuge · 26 June 2021

Refuge opened the world’s first refuge in West London in 1971. We support thousands of women & children every day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.

Story

We all know football coaches can talk a good game. But can they play one? Well, here’s your chance to find out! Female and male coaches from local club Hitchin Belles FC will be lacing up their boots and risking their hamstrings for a special charity football match kicking off at 3pm on Saturday 26th June at the County Ground, Letchworth Garden City SG6 2EN. Spectators are very welcome (£1 on the door) and reasonably priced refreshments will also be available. All proceeds will go to Refuge, the club’s charity, and any further donations are very gratefully received.

One woman in four will experience domestic violence at some point in her lifetime and two women are killed each week in England and Wales by a current or former partner. Refuge supports around 6,000 women & children on any given day, experiencing domestic and sexual violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, stalking, trafficking, prostitution & so-called ‘honour’ based violence.By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and children escaping domestic violence.Thank you.
