Story
Every March since 2005, the Histon Hobblers have gone away for the weekend to cement and celebrate our friendship over walks, homemade cakes, pub meals, much laughter and of course a bit of running too. Alas for the first time this year we won't be able to go away together. So instead we've decided to run together virtually and raise money for Cancer Research.
1 in 7 woman in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer within their lifetime. A statistic that one of the Hobblers, Debbie, experienced first hand last year:
“During lockdown I had looked in a mirror and thought my breast had a slight change but put it down to paranoia, until in October 2020 I lifted my arms and looked and a part of the breast had caved in. I would like to tell all women to lift your arms and look in the mirror, don’t just feel for lumps. I had a bi lateral mastectomy on the 17th December 2020... recovering well and looking forward to running again with these gorgeous Hobbler friends of mine. Such an inclusive warm group.“
Thank you for donating to Cancer Research. It means a lot to us and will spur us on our runs throughout March!
