Story
On 19th July 2019 I lost my dad Philip Rawlings. He spent his last few days at Searle House in Exeter and was cared for by Hospiscare. The care and compassion we received as a whole family was incredible. They made it possible for us to stay by dad’s bedside day and night in his final days and be together as a family. We were all able to say our goodbyes in calm and peaceful surroundings. They not only gave dad the best possible care but they were really supportive and kind to all of us and I can’t thank them enough for what they did for our family and are still doing with their aftercare.
My dad was a keen walker and completed many treks all over the world. One of his most memorable was his trek in Nepal across the Annapurna mountains in 1997. My mum (Felicity) and I have decided to take part in the Hospiscare 53km Himalayan Trek in memory of dad, following the same route that he took in 1997. We will also be spending a few days volunteering in a Hospice in Kathmandu. This is going to be a huge challenge for us but we wanted to give something back to Hospiscare so that they can continue to help other family’s like us, when they need it the most.
Our aim is to raise £7000 for Hospiscare. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can. The more people that know about Hospiscare, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
