Story
The initial reason I chose to run the London Marathon in the first place was actually off seeing on Facebook that a close friend's sister had entered the online ballot in the hope of winning a spot in the run.
After seeing this, and I thinking in typical fashion.....'I could do that'.....I decided to enter the ballot too.
What happened next what that whilst my friends sister unfortunately did not win a spot in the ballot, in some random act of 'luck' (not sure you can call it that), I found myself winning a place!!
That will teach you to be a FB stalker..haha.
Anyway over the next few months, without really giving much thought to a charity to run for, I learned that my friends sister had actually been directly affected by a heart problem from birth and after learning how much something like the CHF would have helped the family in their time of need, and considering she was willing to run the marathon with her heart defect, the charity chose me rather than me choosing it.
So dig deep and open your heart and wallet to what is a fantastic cause that does the world of good for families in what must be one of the darkest periods to have to go through.
Hilt
ps: yes I have been training extensively, and as some of you may know, I am not what you would call 'built like a marathon runner'. But for this charity all I want to do is finish the race, something alot of children with heart problems will never be able to do later in life.
