Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page for Hilly Helmet.

The Hilly Helmet Challenge was created in 2017 by Robin-Mark Schols based on his experience wearing a helmet every day for almost a year while waiting for cranioplasty to fit a titanium plate in the place of infected skull section removed after complications following a brain tumour removal a few years previously.

A keen and competitive runner, Robin-Mark continued to run while having to wear the helmet, even running the Bath Half marathon in 2016 in under 90 minutes. Many people asked how it felt to run in the helmet to which he replied, "I've an idea to help you have the chance to find out" and Hilly helmet was born.

2019 was the last running of our event and we broke all our previous fundraising records, pushing through the £10000 raised mark. Once again the event sold out and if that wasn't enough we even won an industry recognised gold award based on reviews given by happy participants who gave us fab reviews. We can't thank them enough. It means so much to achieve this for something we enjoy doing so much.

Numerous people have asked in the past if they could donate to the event if they weren't taking part, so we've set up this page to enable you to do just that. Once you have donated, JustGiving will send your money directly to the charity, so it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
