My personal journey along Hadrian’s Wall
I’ve walked the wall from coast to coast,
So what are the memories I cherish the most?
The contours, the crags, the boulders and cairns,
The moorland, green pastures and forests of ferns.
Milecastles, turrets, vallums and forts,
(Built by the romans in sandals and shorts!)
The blisters, the bruises, the aches and the pain,
The gale force winds, the sunshine and rain.
Yes, I’ve walked along the roman track,
With thoughts in my head and rucksack on back.
With pride and with passion, trouble and strife,
How much I love England, and how I love
LIFE!
