Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I can't really believe I've signed up for this, but I have and its
getting closer. The training will start properly soon!! Jan, Doreen and I
all studied History together many moons ago, we lived in the same accommodation at various times too and became good friends. More recently all three of us (and other friends too) have had treatment for various kinds for women's cancers. I was lucky as my ovarian cancer was found at a very early stage. This year Doreen and I have decided to do the "Ride the Night, London" to show support from afar for Jan, who lives in Amsterdam. She has had a recurrence of breast cancer, now in different places, and is undergoing treatment. We are hoping to raise money for the three charities promoted by the challenge: Breast Cancer Care, Ovarian Cancer Action and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust. Research is crucial and support for all is essential. If you can, please sponsor... Thank you.
Of course hitting my sixtieth birthday, three days after the ride, gives
me a further reason to want to do it and get fitter! I enjoy cycling, though once back in the north east, the bike has been more of a fair weather friend, but I do get out along our beautiful coast when I can (see photo). When I lived in London years ago it was a regular form of transport for a few years.... I even did the London to Brighton ride! Ron has offered to be my personal trainer. Wish him luck! Its going to be a challenge...
