Story
I am hiking the South West Coast Path to raise funds for Maggie's Southampton so that people with cancer, and also their loved ones, will get the support they urgently need across the South.
My fundraising goal is to raise £10 for each of the 630 miles of the South West Coast Path.
I am aiming to raise awareness of Maggie's expert work and activities which help people adapt to and cope with their diagnosis and treatment.
When Mum was diagnosed in March 2018, it was both an emotional and physical shock to us all. My sister and I received wonderful, compassionate support and professional guidance from the staff at Maggie's Highlands. I simply can't thank them enough and I honestly don't know how I would have coped without them.
Maggie's Highlands became a 'safe place' for us to gather our thoughts after our visits to Mum in Raigmore Hospital and afterwards when Mum's care moved to Highland Hospice. There was always a cup of tea and a hug on offer, along with the opportunity to ask questions and receive direct information from Pamela and Seonaid.
Mum was an artist and was interested in architecture and the use of light, shape and colour. Although Mum was never able to visit the centre, we know that Maggie's Highlands is absolutely the type of environment that would have thrilled her.
Since then, my sister has received bereavement counselling at Maggie's Dundee, the first new-build Maggie's centre.
By donating to my JustGiving fundraising page, you will be helping to raise money for the Maggie's Southampton campaign so they can complete their centre to provide comprehensive support to cancer patients and their families in the South.
Thank you...
