Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the JustGiving page which has been setup to provide funding to Space4Autism charity so they can carry on with their excellent support to children and adults with autism and their families.
Most of you who Danielle and I know are aware our son Charlie suffers from autism. It was initially something that Danielle and I found difficult to accept as he developed in line with his peers and then all of a sudden he suffered regression and his ability to do things and later was diagnosed with autism.
The whole process was a very difficult time in our life as we came to the realisation how underfunded our health and social care system is. Throughout the diagnosis process, to choosing schools and having the correct information on reports it has been a difficult process and most of the time a battle. It is not just us who feel this as parents of autistic children/adults often are left feeling abandoned and left down by the underfunded system.
This is why Space4Autism is such a wonderful charity. The charity offers support to autistic children/adults and their families providing meetings and workshops with guest speakers to help their parents/carers acquire skills to best help them educate their autistic child/adult and to help them deal with situations and daily tasks which a lot of us take for granted without a second thought. The charity also offers social clubs, sport and activity nights, family yoga and even has its own football team. The people who can best help an autistic person are the people who are closest to them and this charity gives those people the best tools to do so and offers autistic children/adults their own social and fun times.
Unfortunately, with the social care service being severely underfunded this is why it is more important that services like this are fully supported. They are a voluntary run charity who only receive funding from events like these.
I hope together we will be able to reach our goal of £1000.00 and help to support such a wonderful charity.
