Story
Once again Highbury Poultry will be taking part in the Pedal the Borders bike challenge raising money for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. The event this year is on Sunday 10th September 2023 and will take riders on the lanes and hills through the area surrounding Oswestry hoping to raise as much money as possible for a local
charity.
There are three route options – 100km, 60km and 25km. Highbury Poultry has 10 members of staff taking part, collectively named The Cyclopaths with representatives participating in both of the longer distances. Some of us have enjoyed
doing the challenge in previous years, whilst others see this as an opportunity to improve their fitness and raise money for a worthwhile cause. Training for the event is well under way on the roads of Shropshire, North Wales and Cheshire in the evenings and at weekends.
Lingen Davies Cancer Fund was founded in 1979 to raise funds to build and equip a new Radiotherapy department at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital so that people in the local and surrounding areas could receive their treatment and care locally. They are dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of people impacted
by cancer. Over the years, the charity has maintained a commitment to supporting people through funded projects across Shropshire, Telford and Mid Wales. They estimate around 100,000 people have had their cancer treatment and care improved as a direct impact of their fund raising efforts.
The Highbury Cyclopaths are David Pritchard, Darren Moore, Robert Bowler, Mike Davies, Bridie Hand-Edwards, Fiona Hand-Edwards, Simon Carruthers, Dawn Broster, Maarten Linger and Mark Kingsley. We are grateful for any donations you are able to give to support us in raising as much money we can. 100% of every donation will go to Lingen Davies helping them continue to offer support and care to cancer patients. Thank you for your support.
