Story
Hi everyone,
In order to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of my Bone
Marrow Transplant (BMT), I have entered the 2023 London Marathon in April and have the privilege to run for a charity I’m sure you’re aware is very close to my heart, Anthony Nolan.
For those of you who don’t know, Anthony Nolan saves the
lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder by matching
incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who
desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also contribute to cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.
The decision to have a BMT wasn’t one I could take lightly and
the experience of having the transplant was one of the toughest of my life but I feel incredibly lucky to come out the other side cured and having made a full recovery.
The process of having to go through four months’ worth of treatment
and over a year’s recovery time felt like a marathon, so I thought in order to celebrate its anniversary, why not actually do one – and what better event than to go back to the City where my journey started.
I would be so grateful if you are able to donate to this amazing cause because as I’ve experienced first-hand, they really do save lives.
Thanks and big love,
Ben x
PS I'm very open and happy to talk about not only my experience but also the charity itself so please, if you do have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. This is all about awareness and giving hope to those who need it.
