Story

On the 3rd of September we are walking a marathon to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. We will be walking 26 miles near Stonehenge and while we enjoy walking, this will be a big challenge! Our target is also ambitious, but the money raised could make a huge difference, for example £150 can provide 10 hours of telephone support to those affected by dementia.

This charity helped our Nanny when she was suffering from Alzheimer’s (a type of dementia) and is now supporting our Grampy through the same condition. They run sessions such as Singing for the Brain which Grampy looks forward to each week as he loves both singing and chatting with people in a similar position to him.

Alzheimer’s Society is working to find a cure for dementia and supporting those affected in the meantime. This is important because around 900,000 people in the UK are living with dementia, and it is one of the main causes of disability later in life, ahead of cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke.

Please donate what you can to help this worthwhile cause. If you’re interested in finding out more, please visit https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
