We raise funds to end poverty and to improve the lives of the vulnerable

Story

1. I will be trekking through Hastings with my siblings so that I can raise some money for our Syrian brothers and sisters that need our support.

As Muslims we are always taught the importance of brotherhood and sisterhood in Islam. We are taught that the Muslim ummah is like a body, and if one part of the body is aching then the whole body feels the pain. So that is why it is so important to support our family around the world that desperately need our help.

Salam charity works closely with Syrian refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan, distributing food packs, fuel, medical kits and other essential aid all year round. This is only possible if we donate to support them.

Please donate generously.

2. Our Syrian brothers and sisters once lived ordinary lives like all of us. Due to ongoing conflict in the region for the past 9 years, they have been displaced all around the world, surviving without adequate living conditions.

I will be trekking through Hastings to raise money for these people. My aim is to raise awareness and money for Human Relief Foundation who are on the ground in countries like Lebanon and Jordan, giving out essential aid to these refugees in the form of food packs, fuel, medical equipment and shelter.

It was narrated that the Prophet  said: “There is noday on which the people get up but two angels comedown and one of them says, ‘O Allah, give incompensation to the one who spends (in charity),’ andthe other says, ‘O Allah, destroy the one whowithholds.”

- "Be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity. Whatever good you send forth for your souls before you, you shall find it with Allah. For Allah sees well all that you do" (2:110).
- "Those who in charity spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (2:274).
- "Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their reward with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve" (2:277).

Key information about Salam Charity and their work for Syrian refugees

The conflict in Syria has been going on for more than 9 years. Millions of Syrians have had to flee their homes due to the lack of safety for them and their families. Many Syrians have sought refuge in Lebanon and Jordan which are bordering countries. Many of these refugees have been living in tents in these countries for more than 5 years. Life does not get much better for them as they now struggle with lack of food, water, clothes and money.

There are no jobs for these people and therefore no income. Many of these refugees rely solely on aid. Salam charityworks with these refugee camps distributing food packs, fuel, medical kits and other essential aid all year round.

Food pack (feeds a family of 5 for one month) = £60 Fuel (lasts one month+) = £30

Medical support = £50 2 winter blankets = £30

Salam Charity was founded in 2011 with the aim to help fight poverty and transform lives. Every night over 800 million people go hungry and nearly 6 million children die each year from preventable diseases. Salam Charity aims to tackle this by providing lifesaving meals, clean water, sanitation, clothing and education. This will allow everyone to realise their birthright of living a happy life by developing their full potential. Salam Charity works in many countries around the world with a particular emphasis on the Rohingya emergency crisis. Salam Charity has a five year strategic plan which will focus on bringing a positive and lasting change in the lives of those affected by poverty. Our aim is to empower people for them to be in charge of their own destinies. We endeavour to support households, local communities and national institutions to develop longer term collective approaches to reinforce their capacities to better respond to, mitigate and prevent humanitarian emergencies and hunger crises. Supported by global celebrities, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and social media influencers, We have one important mission: to save and change lives for the better. We will do what it takes to bring humanity closer to a world free from hunger and poverty.
