Story
First of all - a big THANK YOU for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you may be aware my Gran has been living with dementia for over six years now. She was a very talented and intelligent woman who could pretty much cook, bake or make practically anything - including wine from elderberries picked by her own fair hands!! Over the past few years I have witnessed the severe impact dementia has had upon her life. She struggles to maintain even the simplest of conversations, she repeats herself and unfortunately the only person she now recognises is her son. It is extremely sad as she now has her first great grandchild - Conor - and due to the nature of the illness this is something she can never appreciate.
My Gran was always very supportive of my pursuits particularly my sporting achievements. I intend to challenge myself with the Glasgow Iginis Asset Management Womens 10k on behalf of Alzheimer Scotland. Although she may not recognise me or understand why I am doing this - I know her former self would be proud.
I am all too aware that the current financial climate has made a big impact on all our lives and therefore I appreciate how difficult it is to consider donating your hard earned cash. However whatever little you can donate would be greatly appreciated. Alzheimer Scotland help deliver respite care for sufferers, training for nurses and research into prevention and cure.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you for taking time to read my story!
