A few years ago our wonderful step dad Clive received a prostate cancer diagnosis. He managed to battle it at the time and went into remission for a number of years.  

Roll on 2023 and our lovely dad was given a very sudden prostate cancer diagnosis.  The cancer had metastasised and so therefore was not curable but luckily, with treatment, it has been possible to slow the spread any further.  Our dad had many of the symptoms associated with prostate cancer but despite being in his 70s and visiting the doctor with these symptoms he was not diagnosed until he went to hospital for another reason, by which point curing his cancer was not possible.  

A couple of months later our step dad Clive received the devastating news that his prostate cancer had returned and despite regular tests it also had metastasised and was also incurable.  He has also started on a treatment plan to slow the spread which, thankfully, is working. 

The diagnostic techniques for prostate cancer are quite unreliable which, in both cases above, has lead to the diagnosis coming too late to be able to eradicate the cancer. Prostate cancer is killing one man every 45 minutes in the UK.  It can impact so many people in so many ways and it's a cause that, for the above reasons, is very close to our hearts.
