Story

This is a 'Heroes4heroes' team cycle event raising monies for the brave men and women of The Fire & Rescue Services' and Help for Heroes Charities. Due to the constraints of Justgiving only one charity can receive monies on one page, so this page is for The Firefighters Charity. (see bottom of message for Help for Heroes link).

15 Operational and support personnel (including families) from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service are planning to cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity and Help the Heroes, starting on June 5th from the top and arriving at the bottom on June 18th.  As the public acknowledge that both the armed services and emergency services are heroes, that is why we are calling this campaign ‘Heroes4heroes’.

The bike ride will be under the banner of Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s 10 year vision called 365 Alive.  This is where we intend, through community education, to ensure there are an additional 365 people alive as a result of our activities in 2016 when compared to the fatality data of those killed in fires and on our roads from 1996 to 2006.  As we have painfully experienced the loss of a fellow firefighter in Oxfordshire and another one seriously injured we will also be campaigning about Motorcycle safety across the UK.

Thank you so much for donating to the Firefighters Charity, to donate to Help for Heroes please visit www.justgiving.com/heroes4heroesarmy.
