Story
In April 2016 a colleague and friend of ours, Neil Holding, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Neil's courage and resilience through this time has been an inspiration to everyone at Pave Aways.
As a company we decided to do something to help show our support for Neil and raise some money for Cure Leukaemia, the blood cancer treatment centre in Birmingham. We have set ourselves one main challenge as well as several other fundraising events and challenges.
Starting on Friday 23rd September, various members of the Pave Aways team will be attempting to walk from our office in Knockin near Oswestry to Tywyn on the coast of mid-Wales. The distance is 70+ miles (allowing for getting lost at least twice) over the hills and through the valleys of Shropshire, Powys and Gwynedd. The group that will be undertaking this challenge is of a wide range of ages and fitness levels, doing the whole thing in fancy dress! We will be camping along the way and have allowed 3 days to do the distance.
The idea behind our fancy dress theme is for those taking on to challenge to do so dressed as their own personal hero, be it sports person, rock star, TV personality or whoever inspires them. This will add to the challenge and give an even greater incentive for sponsorship as we are likely to look pretty ridiculous.
We would be very grateful for any donation, large or small! A bit of support from as many people as possible really will keep us going through the pain and the rain.
