Story

Sunday 7 June: No Paine, No Gain - A Sponsored Bike Ride from Thetford to Saffron Walden

Thomas Paine, a key figure in the French and American revolutionary movements and author of "The Rights of Man", died 200 years ago, on June 8, 1809. He was born and spent his early years in the Norfolk town of Thetford.

The Bike Ride, the tenth in a series that goes back to 1992, will take us 75 kilometers - one for each year of Liberty - from Paine's statue in the centre of Thetford through the picturesque villages and country lanes of South Norfolk and North Essex to the medieval town of Saffron Walden.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Civil Liberties Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
