Story

On 12th December 2022, prostate cancer claimed the life of my father, Philip Sloan.

Dad was one of around 300,000 men across the world who died from the disease in 2022. It will claim the lives of 300,000 more this year and 300,000 more the next.

It is only through research that prostate cancer can be beaten, so this year I am running the London Marathon to raise money for Prostate Cancer Research. PCR aim to support innovative and ambitious research into combatting prostate cancer to ensure that as many men as possible are given the best odds when fighting the illness. PCR aim to give more men more time. Their webpage can be found here: (https://www.prostate-cancer-research.org.uk/)

There are many days Dad should have seen. He should have been there to see the day I get married. He should have been there to walk my sister down the aisle. He should have been there to hold his grandchildren.

But he won’t be there.

Prostate Cancer Research aims to ensure that as many men as possible are given more time – time to spend with their families, time to do things that truly matter. Every pound you generously donate is more than just giving money to charity – it is giving more men more time.
