Story
The English Channel swim is often regarded as the aquatic equivalent of climbing Mount Everest, as more individuals have conquered the famous peak than have completed the Channel Swim. I will be part of a 6-person relay team, swimming from Dover to France in 12-18 hours.
Imagine swimming across one of the most iconic and challenging stretches of water in the world. Imagine facing Cold, Waves, Currents, Jellyfish and even Ships. Imagine doing it as part of a 6 person relay team aiming to achieve the crossing in 12-18 hours and racing against the Tide. Imagine doing it for a cause that could save lives and protect the environment. That is what the SwimTayka English Channel relay swimmers are doing. Taking on a challenge to raise funds and awareness for a charity that teaches swimming and environmental education to underprivileged children in developing countries.
Drowning, a silent epidemic, claims 360,000 lives annually, many being children. It's the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide, representing preventable losses. SwimTayka's mission: give disadvantaged communities access to swimming teachers, providing life skills and creating a legacy for today's children to teach the next generation. SwimTayka aims to reduce drowning's impact on families and communities, empowering them with essential swimming skills. The organization fosters a connection between children and local water environments, emphasizing ecosystem preservation. Combining swimming lessons, environmental education, and community engagement, SwimTayka strives to make a lasting difference in children's lives and their communities.
Up to £750 of funds I collect will be allocated to cover direct expenses associated with participating in the Channel Swim Relay, including Registration, Boat Rental, Training and Support Services - as such, I have personally donated the first £750 in order for my friends, family or unknown supporters, to be confident that 100% of their donation will be directly supporting the charity and SwimTayka's Mission.
Thank you all in advance!
Best,
Henry
