Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last August whilst preparing for my sisters' 21st birthday celebrations, our dad was suddenly taken ill and admitted to hospital after complaining of back pain for around a week. This was a man who was never ill and for as long as I can remember, had never taken a day sick off work.
After a couple of weeks and various testing, dad was diagnosed with Mulitple Myeloma. None of us had ever foreseen anything like this happening and were unsure of what the future held. However, after undertaking research we had formed the impression that despite the cancer being incurable, he would have a 50-30% chance of living 5-10 years and although too short we would have this precious time with him.
Sadly, circumstances dramatically changed over the months to come and this very aggressive form of cancer meant that our dad sadly succumbed to the disease in early December.
Shortly before his diagnosis, my dad had bought a road bike with the aim to get fit.. Although he never got the chance to ride his bike, I have decided to put it to good use and ride from London to Paris in September, to raise money for Myeloma UK.
All of your donations will go towards helping the organisation to both provide support services for sufferers and their wider family and to aid much needed research that will hopefully one day lead to a cure being discovered for this devastating illness.
I am greatly thankful for any donations you may be able to make no matter how small they may be and thank you for taking the time for reading our story.
Thank you,
Henry
