At long last, the decision had been made to attempt The Coast to Coast cycle challenge from Whitehaven to Whitley Bay. We had been planning this for a little while and early July was the designated start.

We plan to cover the 145 miles from west to east coast in 6 days which at first glance may seem a little leisurely but crossing the old drover trails throughout the route will undoubtably throw up a few challenges on the bike and body, I have no doubt!

Myself and three pals are attempting the route and training began a few weeks ago with some demanding trails throughout Northamptonshire and Leicestershire resulting in a few scrapes and pulled muscles along the way - good preparation for a challenging but exciting trip ahead we hope!

I have decided to cycle this challenge very recently for LOROS too, in memory of a wonderful friend of mine, Bridget Davis who only last week very sadly lost her battle for life after a brave and courageous fight against cancer.

The LOROS organisation provided Bridget with incredible care at the end and supported her husband Andrew, sons James and William and all their families at such a difficult time in all their lives.

By donating, this will be another step to help LOROS in the great work they do and in Andrew's words ' to continue to provide essential care to another mother, husband, daughter or son - just like Bridget'.
