On 12 March 2021, Devendra Basnyat, set out on a journey entitled “Pedal for Education” to raise funds towards the reconstruction of a School in Dolakha and a library in the Dadeldhura district. He started from Dolakha and aims to reach Dadeldhura on 24th March. He will be covering 1,200 km of distance over 12 days.
‘Pedal For Education’ is a cycling event that aims to raise additional funds towards the reconstruction of Rajkuleshwor School in Dolakha and goes beyond to establish a public library in the Dadeldhura district. It also wants to raise public awareness of the need for quality education for all Nepali children.
Mr Devendra Basnyat, 50, has been a cyclist since 2008. HELP NEPAL Network (HeNN) and Basnyat are collaborating in this mission so as to help in the teaching and learning of children in rural areas of
Nepal.
About the journey:
From Dolakha to Dipayal; Solo cyclist Mr Devendra Basnyat has already crossed Dhulikhel, Hetauda, Chitwan, and Butwal. He will be passing through Lalmatiya, Kusum, Dhangadhi and so on. This
the campaign covers altogether 12 districts of Nepal from Bagmati to Far Western Province.
