About Henley Hawker House #cookforukraine
There is no doubt that there is shock amongst us all at the atrocity that is the invasion of Ukraine and the effect and suffering it is having on it’s people.
We all want to support but sometimes it is difficult to know how to or what to do, so we have created the Henley Hawker House that is parachuting in next Saturday 12th March 12-4pm at Henley Town Hall.
With Henley hospitality, cooks & restaurants we are turning Henley Town Hall into Henley Hawker House, a pop-up food hall for a day inviting the Henley community to come and eat hawker house/canteen style to support those who are suffering in the Ukrainian conflict by hosting an event supporting the #cookforukraine appeal. You come and eat great food provided by wonderful people and help support Ukraine people at the same time.
All dishes will be a minimum donation of £5 and ALL PROCEEDS will be going to UNICEF. Everyone involved is donating their time and food for free.
#CookForUkraine started off as an idea between friends with a mutual love of food and a desire to help those in need. The foremost campaign set up, echoes Cook for Syria, which has raised more than £1m since its conception in 2016.
The new appeal was founded by the food writers Olia Hercules, Alissa Timoshkina, and Zuza Zak – a Ukrainian, Russian, and Polish dream team – alongside Unicef, to which all proceeds will be sent, and the social media star Clerkenwell Boy. Already more than £150,000 has been donated.
We would love to help increase the donations received so far so PLEASE, PLEASE come along next Saturday (12th March 12-4pm) and get stuck in.
An enormous thank you to Henley Town Council who have been unequivocal with their support allowing us to use the main hall in the town hall along with associated staffing and support. Mahoosive hat tip to them.
