Story
Hema is a GP who works hard in the community to support her patients. Passionate about contributing to the care of people when they are most in need, she also works at Westonhospicecare, where she found a fantastic group of like-minded colleagues. That spirit of camaraderie brought her and her husband Jonathan to the Westonhospicecare Gala dinner. Already committed to the Hospice’s cause, it was there that a different type of spirit convinced them to try dancing for this cause.
Jonathan is a hospital doctor who has been diverted to the COVID frontline over the last two years. He has never been a keen dancer and now thinks his mention of skilfully sidestepping infection has been misinterpreted.

Just 20% of the hospices income is provided by the the Somerset CCG, so we rely on the loyal and kind-hearted people of Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset and Sedgemoor to raise the rest. Every penny we receive from revenue made in our shops, from your event sponsorship, corporate donations and gifts left in wills ensures you, our brilliant supporters, fund 80% of the hospices operating costs. Each minute of help we receive from treasured volunteers contributes to saving the hospice more than £1million per year in wages. They provide essential supporter across the organisation by helping at events, assisting the retail team and providing vital support to the clinical team.
