Hema's Marathon Walk for Cancer

Marathon Walk for Cancer · 26 September 2020
My Dad was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in 2016. It was only caught because he did the screening and owes his life really to providing poo samples through the postal screening. Yes gross, but he is only here because he did that.
He had no symptoms apart from loud rumbling tummy which was trapped wind from the tumour which had nearly completely obstructed his bowels. Luckily he did the screening, attended a colonoscopy which confirmed it was bowel cancer and he was able to be treated and his life saved.
He is doing really well, despite chemotherapy on and off for the last three years and two major surgeries, so I am getting off my fat arse and challenging myself to walk 26.4 miles to raise some money for Bowel Cancer UK. COVID hasn't stopped me getting out for walks but it has really affected charity funding and postal screening packs being sent out so many people will remain undiagnosed and without receiving early treatment due to COVID.
Dad and I spend most of the time talking about bowel movements and the poo emoji is my favourite emoji, so just want to remove the taboo around poo and raise awareness! Any changes in your bowel movements please get it checked or take part in the screening if you are old enough, yes its gross but it can save your life!
