Story
Every day in the UK, 34 young adults hear the words ''you have cancer''. In December 2017, I became one of them.
I was one of the fortunate ones, my cancer was found at an early stage and responded well to treatment, still the experience changes you and the 'after' can be a tricky landscape to navigate. I felt like a different person both physically and emotionally.
Trekstock helped get me moving again by providing me with a specialist cancer rehab Personal Trainer and fitness plan to help build up my strength post chemo and restore confidence in my body's ability following surgery.
In April 2019 I took on Trekstock's Jurrassic Coast Challenge and hiked 30k along the stunning Dorset coastline over 12 hours, in a storm, in gale force winds and do you know what? I LOVED every second of it! The incredible people, the beautiful scenery, the exhilaration of the elements and the immense feeling of pride in reaching the finish line.
So I'm doing it again! . . . and this time we'll be trekking in a place very close to my heart, in my native North East, taking on a strenuous marathon distance challenge of 26 miles (graded tough!) along Hadrian's Wall. We will trek in the footsteps of the Roman Empire whilst raising vital funds so that Trekstock can continue to support more young adults living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.
If you can afford to make a donation to support me in this challenge, no matter how small, it is so greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Helen xx
