We are cycling the South Downs Way to "Help Thomas to Dance"
Fundraising for Tree of Hope
Fundraising for Tree of Hope
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Thomas and Dylan were born on the 4th January 2013 nearly 10 weeks early. Weighing less than 3lbs they had to fight hard to survive.
After 10 weeks in SCBU ( Special Care Baby Unit) they went home.
An MRI scan at 2 years of age showed that Thomas has some neurological damage. A diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy was confirmed.
Thomas is now 3 years old. He continues to make good progress but he is still unable to stand or walk independently. Thomas is able to walk with his walker and enjoy chasing his brother around but he wants to do more, he wants to catch him!
He needs SDR ( Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy) surgery to increase the chances of being able to live and walk independently. Unfortunately, the NHS have decided to withdraw funding for SDR surgery, a potentially life changing procedure for children who suffer from spastic diplegia like Thomas. It had been available here in the UK since 1988!
Therefore, we (Victoria and Hugo) are cycling 100 miles over the South Downs to raise money on behalf of Thomas's parents, Nicci and Brian, whom would very much appreciate your help.
Please donate whatever you are able. All donations made on this JustGiving page will go directly into Thomas's Tree of Hope Fundraising page.
