Alison and I have just enjoyed the huge privilege of visiting Nepal and trekking in The Himalayas very recently. We were dependant on the mountain people for food and shelter every night and it was a real adventure, experiencing the beautiful but often harsh living conditions they endure all year round.

The generosity, friendliness and hospitality of the mountain people is an example to the world, but most locals mainly rely on agriculture and they lack the majority of modern  conveniences considered essential in a first world country. Health and education facilities require more support and they suffered badly with an earthquake in 2015. Now Covid has devastated the international tourism that was supplementing their economy.

Sherpas and the Nepalese mountain people are resourceful, entrepreneurial and have a huge respect for conservation.
