Story
Last November, Central America was hit by two devastating hurricanes only a few days apart. The north coast of Honduras was hit the hardest, leaving entire communities affected. Many families have lost their homes and their sources of income.
I am a Honduran artist based in the UK and watching this news over the last months has been extremely painful. I felt drawn to create responsive artwork that will raise awareness to the situation and can help in the emergency response.
For the next month, I will be working on small art pieces (above) specially created for this event that will be given to donors in exchange for their generous contributions. All funds will go to the cause and will support CAFOD with the great work that they are already doing in the region.

The work:
I take special care that the production of my art is done in the most conscious of ways. Thus, materials for these artworks include rice-based inks, certified recycled paper, and wood off-cuts.
This is a theme in my work where I use repurposed materials to create compositions inspired by the spontaneous solutions seen in the architecture of developing nations such as Honduras.
