Story
The Chiltern MS Centre has helped me immensely following my diagnose of MS, not only with the direct support they offer in form of courses and treatments, but also by offering a safe space to meet other people with MS.
It offers a great community and I have been coming here on a regular basis, initially to learn about fatigue management and then to improve my fatigue through regular oxygen treatments (as shown in the photo collage above). In times of difficulty, they offered counselling and language therapy, which helped with finding tools to manage my cognitive fatigue. Other services include hydrotherapy or pilates to help me with balance and the list goes on - there is such a variety in help they can offer!
The Chiltern MS Centre is a charity and not publicly funded, so relies very heavily on support through donations. Many of their wonderful staff are volunteers and some have MS themselves, but they choose to offer their precious time to help people with MS in the local area.
In 2020, the year the Covid-19 pandemic started, the Chilterns MS Centre celebrated their 35th birthday.
In these difficult times it is hard for smaller charities to survive, so please help me to ensure that the centre will be here to stay for many years to come to help people with MS through workshops, physiotherapy, counselling or meeting others in a safe and friendly place who understand the challenges MS can throw at you. 330 patients are treated each week and no one is ever turned away.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. They also make “Gift Aid” easy - you don’t have to do anything other than confirm you’re a UK tax payer and meet a couple of other criteria. The Chiltern MS Centre will then be able to claim an additional 25% back from the government. In other words £10 can turn into £12.50 with Gift Aid.
