Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In May I’m going to run the Manchester half marathon to raise money in memory of a very dear friend, Shelley who passed away last year.
I met Shelley back when we were 18, we lived together at university in Preston. Sadly when we were in our twenties Shelley was diagnosed with Ataxia. Ataxia is a degenerative disease of the nervous system and it resulted in every day tasks becoming more tricky for her. As her condition progressed, Shelley's ability to walk, talk and live independently became very hard. Last year, Shelley tragically passed away at the age of 42 due to complications of the condition.
Shelley was an extremely bubbly and chatty person, she was a bit crazy and I have so many happy memories of her. Her bubbly personality always shone though even in the most challenging situations.
I’d like to try and raise some money to support Ataxia UK to help with essential research and raise awareness of this condition. It will be a real challenge running the Half marathon, but it is spurring me on thinking of Shelley, which is making the training worth while. I am running along side the rest of team, Jo, Sally, Andrew and Simon.
Please donate what you can to help me support Ataxia UK. Thank you
