Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I’m running the Flora London Marathon on the 26th April to raise money for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in memory of my brother in law, Steve Chilton.

In December 2005, Steve was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Through out his illness and treatment, Steve carried on with life as normally as possible.  He continued to work as long as he could and he also became a father for the first time to FFion Aimee. He was so proud of his little baby daughter.  Sadly, only eight months later, Steve passed away on the 5th March just a few short weeks after his 37th birthday.

During his final months, Steve spent many happy days at the Hospice, were he received the most wonderful care from the truly dedicated staff.  The Hospice of the Good Shepherd offers patients and their families a calming haven and a huge amount of support and friendship. Our family will always be truly grateful to everyone at the Hospice for making Steve's stay as comfortable as they could.

It costs £6,000 a day to run the hospice and each year they have to raise £2.5m in order to continue with the vital and specialist care they offer. They rely heavily on the local community for fund raising as very little financial help comes from the Government so by running the marathon, I’m hoping to raise as much money as I can to help towards their target.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure.  It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd will receive your money faster and, if you are a UKtaxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So if you are able to help, please sponsor me now.

Many thanks for your support it means a lot to me and my family.

Best wishes

Helen
