Story
Hello, and thanks for visiting our page!
In 2020 our Mum, Helena, was diagnosed with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), a very rare form of early-onset dementia that initially affects her vision and spatial awareness. Living with PCA is complex and challenging, and the last few years have been difficult for the whole family.
We’re all proud of Mum for how positive and energetic she is. She loves to paint, volunteers at the local food bank, and is also a runner - she and our Dad, David, are regulars at Worthing Parkrun along with friends from their running club, Run Academy Worthing. The PCA support group Mum is part of has been invaluable in helping her cope with all the change that has followed her diagnosis and to keep doing what makes her happy as much as possible.
Together with our cousin Ben and Matthew’s partner Janina, we’re running the London Marathon on 23rd April 2023 to raise money for Rare Dementia Support, which helps people like Helena and those who care about them through research, community and education, funded by the National Brain Appeal.
We would be so grateful for any donation you can give – thank you.
