Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are a multi-medal winning Paralympic couple for the GB Cycling Team, winning 4 silver medals and a bronze medal between us in London 2012. We will be taking part in the Help For Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride from 27th May to 2nd June cycling through France, visiting some of the major war memorials on route. We are hoping to raise a minimum of £1200 for our injured troops!
Jon-Allan served in the RAF, and in 2007 at the ripe old age of 21, he was hit by an IDF (rocket attack) whilst on tour in Op Telic 10 Iraq. The rocket took his arm but luckily he survived this horrific attack. Shortly after he was talent spotted by the GB Cycling team and went on to compete at the Paralympic Games 2012. Jon-Allan received support from Help For Heroes; without this he may never have achieved his dream of competing in London. He wants to give something back by raising more awareness for the charity and to also inspire other soldiers that are struggling to come to terms with an injury.
After growing up in a keen cycling circle in Halesowen West Midlands, Helen followed her dream to race for Great Britain, and is now a sprint pilot for Great Britains' female track tandem. She competed in her first Paralympic Games in London 2012 with her stoker Aileen McGlynn. Joining this ride has become a personal challege for Helen. Being a sprinter by nature, the stages are some of the longest rides that Helen has ridden since joining the National Squad, and she hopes to be able to encourage others on the ride who are also aiming to achieve their goals.
We are so competitive on and off the bikes! We are betting on who can raise the most. So please dig deep and donate now!
Merci!
