Story
My mum, Helena Oswald, has been living in France for the last 18 years having returned to Europe following an epic decade long adventure in Hong Kong since 1987.
I am sad to say that Mum recently died from lung cancer at the age of 67.
As an energetic, proud and pragmatic lady, she always wanted to donate her body to science but now that the moment has come, the French health authorities were, unfortunately, not able to fulfil her wishes and as such she was cremated on the 2nd January 2015 close to her home in France.
This Friday, we will conduct a small memorial in the UK that will take place in Reading to allow Mum's family and friends to come together and to celebrate her life.
Although it is customary for those wishing to attend to lay flowers, we would like to suggest that it would be more appropriate for friends to make a small donation in support of Cancer Research UK.
We will, of course, ensure that the service is accompanied with a floral display. We hope that our collective support of the research into the disease will make a small but meaningful contribution that will one day lead to significantly better treatment or even a cure so that fewer people will need to suffer the way that Mum did.
Thank you in advance for your support.
