Story
I am fundraising for Sufra Food Bank and Community Kitchen, because I don’t think that anyone should go hungry in this day and age. I’m also the Deputy Chair of Trustees.
Based on St. Raphael’s Estate, Brent’s most disadvantaged neighbourhood, the Community Hub provides a life-line for people in crisis – including families living in extreme poverty and people who are vulnerable, homeless and socially isolated. Around 50% of children are classed as living in poverty.
Sufra provides ‘guests’ with the food and support they urgently need to survive, empower them to learn new skills and improve their wellbeing, and help them find work and become financially stable.
We are feeding approximately 500 people a week. Last month, we provided almost 40,000 meals through parcels and hot meals to people of all backgrounds, ethnicities and religions, ranging from homeless, low income, refugees and asylum seekers, children and the most vulnerable in the local area.
Everything you donate will make a notable difference:
- £10 provides a homeless person with a hot meal and easy eat parcel
- £25 provides a family of 4 with food parcel for a week
- £250 covers one evening community kitchen for approximately 50 people
- £1,000 covers a week's hot meals: 2 community kitchens and meals for delivery to the disabled, elderly and extremely vulnerable who are unable to cook for themselves.
- £4,000 provides a week’s food parcels
- £5,000 provides a week’s worth of emergency food aid (parcels and hot meals)
