I've chosen to Race for Rainforest to back people to protect rainforest and fight the climate crisis.
Right now, the impact of the climate crisis is being felt in coastal, rainforest communities in PNG. Globally 26% of people lack safely managed drinking water. In Papua New Guinea 40% of people drink from unsafe water supplies.
With rising tides contaminating crops, sea level rise displacing people from their homes, and extreme conditions brought by El Niño drying up water sources, adaptation is the only option.
Rainwater tanks will provide safe drinking water for communities in PNG during severe weather conditions and natural disasters.
Clean water is not only a necessity, its a lifesaver. When rainforest communities are healthy, so is their rainforest.
