Story

Over 60 Allen & Overy staff and alumni performed in a production of Guys and Dolls at the Bloomsbury Theatre in March 2019.

All proceeds from your generous donations will be going to A&O’s global charity partner, Hope and Homes for Children.

Over 80% of children confined to orphanages today are not orphans; they have at least one living parent or other relative. Children in orphanages are often subject to high levels of abuse and neglect. Without family to care for them, or friends to play alongside, they live in a world without love. The impact of this can last a lifetime. Some don't survive at all.

Hope and Homes for Children work with children, their families and communities across countries in Central and Eastern Europe, Africa and South Asia, to help children grow up in safe and productive environments. They move children out of institutions into family-based care, help keep together families who are at risk of breakdown due to the pressures of poverty, disease or conflict and work to prevent child abandonment.

In South Asia, thousands of children have their childhoods stolen from them when they are separated from their parents and families, displaced from their homes, and imprisoned in an orphanage economy where they can be exploited and trafficked. Your donations will go towards A&O’s 1 Million GBP target to support HHC’s work in Nepal and India - to rescue children from abusive institutions and strengthen families - as well as support Hope and Homes for Children's wider work to protect children from harmful institutional care and eliminate orphanages for good by tackling the root causes of family breakdown.
Orphanages do not protect children. They harm them. Your support of this partnership which will change the lives of so many children and young people, in giving children what they want and need most - a stable, loving family.

5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.
