Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I remember a time when I use to hear a lot about cancer but thought it was one of those things that would never impact me personally - how wrong was I??
Cancer doesn’t care who it’s victims are - young or old, fit or fat, smoker or non-smoker - the devastating disease leaves a trail of destruction whether you are winning the battle or have been beaten by it.
It not only has a lasting physical and mental impact on the victim but the families & friends who are there through every step from first sign of symptoms, through the diagnosis, through treatment and care - all the way to the finale - it’s a heart wrenching and exhausting process which nobody should have to go through.
In every circle of my life there’s a story I can tell about someone who has had the dreaded diagnosis of ‘cancer’ - and it’s becoming more common - maybe because with research - we are better at finding it which is great but sometimes even with the earliest diagnosis there is no stopping it. That is what needs to change.
I lost my Mum in August 2017 to a form of brain cancer - a tumour - it crept up on us with no warning signs just a year earlier and tore our world apart. It was heartbreaking knowing that there was never a chance of survival - imagine knowing that - a lot of people won’t need to imagine as they are living through it right now.
You can help to change that - give generously!
