For those of you that know us, you will understand how much your visit to this page and all of your donations means to us.
Now in our 3rd season, we can no longer claim to be novice open water swimmers, but with each year comes a new, more exciting, more challenging goal. Last year we were delighted to have completed the Coniston end to end 5.25 mile swim and, on June 7th 2015, we will go one step further and complete our first 10k swim. Considered a ‘marathon’ distance in swimming terms, the Jubilee swim will be our furthest yet and will continue our commitment to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation in memory of our younger sister, Heather, who passed away unexpectedly in 2009.
When we first started out, we had no idea how far it would go - our goal was merely to survive! Rest assured that the levels of anxiety remain; we scream the same way whether we are about to be devoured by a great white or a piece of weed touches our feet! The ‘weekend hickey’ is a constant source of amusement, but let’s face it, you try squeezing yourself into a rubber suit and waving your arms around for 4 hours… chaffing is inevitable. Some say that there is either a magic or madness to open water swimming; we will leave it to you to decide in which camp you reside J
As with all of our adventures, we know that Heather will be watching and will be immensely proud of us, just as we continue to be proud of the legacy she left behind in her children Hollie, David, the late Charlie and her remarkable grandson Charlie. Your sponsorship in recognition of her short, but fun filled life, and in support of the continued work of the British Heart Foundation is treasured.
Thank you from all of us!
