Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please take the time to look at my photo's and read my story and I hope it will inspire you not just to donate today but also to register as a Organ donor.
My mum suffered from Polycystic kidneys and she had three kidney transplants in her life, the last one lasting for an amazing 27 years. At the age of 23 I was also diagnosed with the same disease and my health began to deteriorate. The symptoms of kidney disease are often invisible and it can be difficult for people to understand that we are fighting for our lives every day as the kidney function reduces so dramatically that eventually they fail altogether and our only hope of living a normal life once again is a life saving Transplant operation.
I was fortunate enough to be offered a living donor kidney from my best friend. I was nervous and apprehensive about the operation but with my lovely mum as an inspiration and holding my hand every step of the way the operation went ahead in April 2008.
The operation was a complete success and my quality of life was immediately transformed - It was like the light had been switched back on after so many years, I had bounds of energy, colour in my cheeks and I felt amazing.
It is for this reason that I want to go to Sweden to complete in the games in swimming and athletics and support the work of Transplant Sport UK but I need your help to be able to do this. Please donate to this wonderful cause and I promise to do my best to bring home lots of medals.
