Story
LDN London have recently opened a new 'Hub' in Westminster for people with learning disabilities; and through my current workplace, I have been very fortunate to work and support alongside these fabulous groups of adults.
We want to tackle the inequalities still faced by people with learning disabilities, including around healthcare, poverty and loneliness. With a refurbished building and a new member of staff, the Hub will provide a range of activities and workshops. This will include sessions on topics such as how to access healthcare services, staying safe, digital skills, mental health awareness, sexual health and relationships, and sustainability. We will teach people crucial life skills and help people to be more involved in their local community.
People with learning disabilities were particularly badly affected by the pandemic. The Hub will be a place where people can make friends, have fun and learn to live safer, happier and healthier lives.
