Story
I'm cycling along with 30 others from London to Paris (some 300 miles) in memory of my good friend Fi who died this March after battling cancer for 6 months.
Fi was incredibly brave through-out her illness, always hoping there would be a cure. She had secondary lung cancer from an unidentified primary ("CUP"). Fi's type of cancer kills as many people as breast cancer in any given year but is relatively unheard of. I want to raise as much money as possible in her memory.
If you want to read more about Fi's story here's the main team page link: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/AtoACUP
As I cycled from London to Paris 4 years ago, I have a fair idea of what I'm letting myself in for although the distance is about 40 miles more this time. I've got my new bike (with cleats no less) which I have just about got used to (only forgotten my feet are attached to it twice...). My torn ligament ankle is also on the mend. So a few more long training rides under my belt (60 miles at the weekend not quite cutting the average 100 miles a day) and I should be good to go!
Please give generously as cancer sadly affects everyone, making it a very worthy cause indeed.
Thanks for reading.
